It’s only been one day since the CNN king announced his resignation and talking heads like Joy Behar and Ryan Seacrest have already begun battling for the crown!
After 25 years of hosting his CNN talk show Larry King Live, 76-year-old Larry King is hanging up his suspenders and there is major disagreement about who should replace him. Larry wants jack-of-all-trades Ryan Seacrest to fill his shoes, but the network is pulling for talk-show host Joy Behar, reports our sister site Deadline.com.
“A deal with Behar would go against King’s wishes. On his show last night, the veteran interviewer reiterated his support for Seacrest as his successor,” Nikki Finke and Nellie Andreeva reported June 30.
“‘He’s curious, he’s interesting, he’s likable,’ King has said of the American Idol host. ‘If he has a great interest in politics, I would recommend him. But I’m sure there’s a ton of people who could do it. Come on, it’s Q&A.’”
Ryan, 35, has made his interest in the position clear — frequently referencing his friendly dinners with Larry on his 102.7 KIIS-FM radio show and even guest-hosting the show with Larry in the morning.
That said, Ryan’s quest to fill Larry’s shoes isn’t going to be a walk in the park, since CNN would prefer placing Joy in the position — even though her schedule completely full, much like Ryan’s.
“It is not clear if an upgrade to a tentpole primetime position on CNN would affect Behar’s other full-time job on ABC’s The View,” reports Deadline. “So far, she has successfully juggled both the ABC daytime talk show and her primetime talker on HLN.”

Replacing Larry King with Ryan Seacrest or Joy Behar, is like trying to decide whether to replace your Mercedes with a volkswagon bus….. or an AMC Pacer!
It’s pretty sad that the talent pool is so shallow in 2010, that at 52 years old….I realize now, that I had more choices for great entertainment with only 7 channels as a kid, than I have as an adult with 128????
With the state of the world, Washington, and the entertainment industry….it can now be confirmed, that all the great leaders, entertainers and Politicians, are either retired or dead!!
