Check out what HollywoodLife.com’s Twi-mom, Ruby Guzman, thinks of the third film in the Twilight Saga
Action. Adventure. Angst. Humor. Romance. Eclipse has it all!
The long-awaited third Twilight franchise film finally premiered at midnight last night, and to the thousands of fans descending upon their local movie theaters this weekend, this reviewer is pleased to tell you that your long wait in line is worth it. This movie is fantastic!
Set in the gloomy, perpetually sunless town of Forks, Washington, teenager Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is caught in a love triangle with vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and werewolf Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). But these long-time enemies must join forces to save Bella from an army of newborn vampires headed by revenge-seeking vamp Victoria (newcomer Bryce Dallas Howard) and her sidekick Riley (hunky Aussie Xavier Samuel), that want her dead.
Director David Slade does a great job of bringing the story to the big screen with his beautiful visuals, great special effects and compelling fight scenes. The back- stories of Cullen vampire siblings Rosalie and Jasper (Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone) really give us a chance to learn more about their characters. In my opinion, Billy Burke (Bella’s dad, Charlie Swan) stole the show with his impeccable comedic timing. The scene where Bella and Charlie have an awkward talk about the birds and the bees is hysterical! The only thing missing in this film is more selfish Jessica Stanley (Oscar nominee Anna Kendrick). I was really hoping for another hysterical Jessica monologue, like the one in New Moon.
The Trifecta (what we Twi-hards call K-Stew, R-Patz and Taylor) clearly found their stride in the third film. They’re clearly comfortable in their roles and with each other; and they each do a great job of fleshing out their characters. The tent scene (which Cullen mom Elizabeth Reaser called a ‘chaste three-way!’) is done superbly and believably. Space heater anyone? But my favorite scenes were still any that revealed even more of the romance between Edward and Bella. Whether they were kissing or talking in their meadow, I loved watching my favorite human-vampire couple fall in love onscreen!
Twifans will certainly not be disappointed with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. The movie stays faithful to Stephenie Meyers’ novel and will leave fans blissfully happy and content until the next installment, Breaking Dawn, comes out in November 2011.
