Not only is Eclipse the best Twilight movie yet, but it’s also raking in the most cash!
Give yourselves a round of applause, BFFs. Your desire to see Taylor Lautner shed his clothes made last night’s Eclipse the highest-grossing midnight showing of all time! With $30 million, Eclipse beat out previous record holder New Moon (surprise, surprise), which made $26.3 million in its midnight premiere back in Nov. 2009. But wait… that’s not the only record Eclipse broke!
It also broke the record for best-selling IMAX midnight release, with $1 million. The previous record holder for IMAX was Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which took in $959,000.
Wow, Eclipse is going to be even bigger than anyone expected!

They hype the crap out of these movies, how can they NOT expect it to be a hit. It doesnt even have to be good, it could be total crap and it will make money. The movies are entertaining (if not slow and overly mushy at times) but they arent stellar by any means. Just an army of teens girls and middle aged moms make it a hit. Have you seen the Hot Topic alone? It’s all about promoting.
and yes, I agree, they did rip off the Harry Potter idea of making the last movie into two. Big surprise there. I dont know why they even lump Harry Potter with Twilight anyway. They arent even in the same class. No matter how big Twilight is, it will never have the following Potter does. Never.
