Jon reveals to HollywoodLife.com that although he’s made mistakes in the past, right now he’s focusing on what’s really important — his eight children

OK, so maybe Jon Gosselin doesn’t have the BEST track record. He’s had more girlfriends in the last year than we can count, has been caught on tape smoking pot and makes his eight Gosselings rest up in sleeping bags when they’re at his house — but all that is about to change. Jon tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively that his kids are the most important thing in his life, and that he’s morphed into a great dad!

“Everything is going so good right now, so from this point on going forward, my kids are getting older and I’m going to start focusing on them,” the 33-year-old former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star told us at THQ’s E3 “Take No Prisoners” party in LA June 16. “They are getting smarter and I can’t just skate around things. I got to do what’s best.”

He added, “I guess in the media’s eyes I’ll never be the father of eight again, but my mom said to me, ‘It doesn’t matter what other people think of you, it matters what the people you love think of you.’ I was like, ‘That’s good advice. Why do I care what anyone else thinks?’ I know in my heart I’m doing what’s right. I came back to PA, I’m spending time with my kids, I’m being a father again. Those are the things I missed and those are the things that are making me happy now.”

With Father’s Day coming up this Sunday, June 20, Jon says his favorite part about being a dad is this: “My favorite part is when people are like, ‘Eight kids? That’s a lot!’ [And I can tell them] but one ‘I love you’ is worth it to me.’”
