I can’t stop using these gorgeous (and totally affordable!) lip stains that come in cool, marker applicators!

I’m usually a gloss girl and, on special occasions, a super bright lipstick gal. But now, I’m a total lip stain addict! Here’s why. You apply it once (onto dry, clean lips) and it literally lasts for hours. Which is a huge advantage as summertime beauty is all about low maintenance products for me. Plus, unlike glosses and lipsticks that can look heavy on warm, summer days, these tints just enhance your natural lip, not cover it. All you need is a little lip balm now and then to keep lips hydrated. Or, for night, throw on some sparkly gloss for added oomph. The packaging is just genius, too. The marker tip makes outlining your lips and filling them in virtually foolproof. And, did I mention that my three faves are all under $10?!

Celebrity makeup artists and their clients love them too! Jake Bailey, who works closely with Katy Perry, uses the CoverGirl Outlast Lipstains on her all the time. “Katy loves the Outlast Lipstains because they are great for when she performs; they don’t stick to her hair or microphone and never smudge,” Jake says. She wore the stain in Wild Berry Wink to the 2010 Grammys in the photo above. “I love these Lipstains so much because you can line and shape the entire lip without sacrificing your own lip texture,” he adds.

These are the three stains that I have in my purse at all times:

Mark Kissink Lip Tintmarker in Red Siren ($7) – The perfect cherry red. It’s great for red lipstick novices or for red lovers who want a more summer-appropriate texture.

CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain in 402 ($7.99) – Imagine what your lips would look like if you rubbed raspberries all over them. That’s exactly what this hue does.

Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain by ColorStay in Passion $8.99 – This super bright pink shade is electric. SO pretty, fun and definitely attention getting. Lips stay moisturized with the balm attached on the other end.
