Twilight Saga: Eclipse Fan Convention in Century City, June 13, 2010
17-year-old high school student Shawn Hayes was bound and determined to catch all the R-Patz & K-Stew action he could. See what a true fan will do for the stars he loves most — which includes getting caught by security!
As I walked back to Hyatt Regency Century City hotel Saturday after dinner with the cast of the Hillywood Show (the YouTube sensation that parodies Twilight), I realized I would be pulling an all-nighter to catch the third and final day of the Twilight convention June 13. So what did I do? I found a couch in the third level lobby — where Taylor Lautner had been only three hours ago! — and hunkered down for the night. Too scared to doze off, I tried to keep my head held high — after all, I had 10 hours before showroom doors opened in the morning!
After nodding off for what felt like seconds, a security guard woke me up and asked me what I was doing there. “I’m waiting for the Twilight convention to start,” I said, sleepily – and got escorted to the lobby. NO!
FINALLY day 3 of the convention began. The Sunday attendance was really low…only 45-50 of the 2,000 so-called Twi-hards showed up! Boo Boo Stewart (Seth Clearwater), Tyson Houseman (Quil Ateara) and Justine Wachsberger (Gianna, a receptionist) were the guest stars, and I had the pleasure of chatting it up with Justine, who told me she how much she loves the Twilight cast. She said Rob is hysterical and awkward (obvi!), Kristen is the best and coolest girl to hang out with and Taylor is the sweetest of them all!
The night ended with a Vampire Ball, but only 20-30 people showed. The hottest topic of conversation was how, during the Saturday panel with Rob, Taylor and Kristen, several of the fan questions were taken away for acting inappropriately! Apparently, someone asked if Rob, Kristen and Taylor would have a threesome and the other asked Taylor if he was responsible for global warming because he’s so hot! LOL.
Sadly, the biggest Eclipse fan convention in history came to an end Sunday night…and I still can’t believe I got to be in the same room as my favorite three people in the world. Pinch me now, because this was a total dream!
