If the June 8 season 1 finale of Glee left you wanting more, then you’re not alone. To tide you over until season 2 premieres this fall, creator Ryan Murphy is giving you a taste of what’s to come!
The season finale of Glee was pretty epic. Quinn had her baby, Mr. Schuester told Ms. Pillsbury he loved her and Sue Sylvester continued to surprise us by showing some heart. What drama could possibly top season 1? Just you wait — series creator Ryan Murphy says you’re not going to know what hit you come September!
“We’re plotting the first 11 and we already know the first six of them and they’re really big fun, moving episodes,” Ryan told Entertainment Weekly. “We always go back to the idea of how does our society treat and feel about funding for the arts, and the answer is not very good.”
What, exactly, does Ryan have up his sleeve? Two HUGE tributes, that’s what! “The Madonna episode was so popular, I think I’m gonna do two tribute episodes — one in the fall and one in the spring — and we’re figuring out who those artists are,” he said.
But the secrets didn’t end there as Ryan added his thoughts on new characters and the potential of a major season finale, including a boyfriend for Kurt. “I just want him to be an everyday dude and I want him to be sort of struggling [with his sexuality] and Kurt helps him deal with it and in the process they fall for each other.” Meaning, Kurt’s going to help his BF come out of the closet!
Also keep your eyes peeled for a possible love for Mercedes as well as a Carrie Underwood-esque rival for Rachel. “When people hear we’re going to do that, they will expect that we’re making fun of her,” says Murphy. “We’re not. The show is about inclusiveness and about giving voices to a lot of people.”
As for a season 2 cliffhanger, Ryan announces, “I know that season two ends with Nationals in New York. I don’t know if they’ll make it — we haven’t figure that out.”
We have faith in New Directions — and we’ll be gleeking out with the rest of you to see if they win!
