Kent Boyd’s emotional moment in front of the judges last night was so endearing, I’m now really rooting for this underdog!
OMG! Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance’s seventh season has officially become my favorite after last night’s episode. There are so many plot twists and fabulous dancers (11 instead of 10 this time around) I can barely contain myself! It’s great to see familiar faces like Julliard’s Billy Bell and ballet pro Alex Wong, who have auditioned before but never made it to performances, but the person I REALLY want to win is a newbie — farm boy Kent Boyd.
Seriously, this 18-year-old kid charmed my socks off last night with his heartfelt speech, when he cried that he never believed he’d make it this far in the competition. “Those guys could crush me!” Kent told the judges (who loved him, PS) as they passed him through to the next round.
Can you imagine being fresh out of high school from a teensy town like Wapakoneta, Ohio and being thrown in the ring with professional dancers or Broadway pros and MAKING IT? I mean, there are 40 students in Kent’s graduating class. He grew up on a farm and danced in one studio his entire life!
But despite all that, I think he’s going to steal the show!
