From Gwyneth to SJP, find out what all your fave A-listers were talking about on the red carpet at the CFDA’s!
Along with Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Biel, the Olsen twins, and Molly Sims, HollywoodLife.com was on the scene at the CFDA Awards on Jun. 8 in NYC, mingling with the A-listers in attendance to bring you the scoop from the show! “Lincoln Center is all about beauty and art,” Diane von Furstenberg said, before slipping inside. “We’re so honored they welcomed us!” Gwyneth Paltrow and Michael Kors came down the carpet linked arm in arm, while Gwyn gushed about her glam gown! “It’s like a t-shirt, it’s stretchy and it’s very comfortable!” Regardless of how comfortable it may be, there’s no denying that Gwyn looked great!
Sarah Jessica Parker was having another fabulous fashion moment in her whimsical Alexander McQueen gown — when asked what she loved about her get-up she replied, “Everything, everything!”
I couldn’t imagine how much work must go in to picking the perfect dress, but according to Michelle Trachtenberg is was a super simple process! “We only had one sketch, one fitting, and everything was perfect,” she said. “Rebecca [Taylor] sent over what she had in mind and I was like, ‘Done sold, take it, lets make it!” While I was in disbelief of how effortless the process was, Rebecca said, “If you’re trying to hard, you miss the mark,” and Michelle totally agreed! “Then, you know it’s not fun,” the actress said. “You have to sort of think of what it felt to be a little girl dressing up in your mommy’s clothes and emulate that when you’re older.”
Designer Phillip Lim said although sometimes taking risks can be tricky, he wishes young Hollywood would be more willing to take risks on the red carpet! “What I wish is that they could be more courageous and not have everything curated. I think that would truly show a true sense of who they are as a person instead of following an equation or formula. That’s what I wish.” However, designer Yigal Azrouel had a totally different perspective! “I think they shouldn’t try very hard. Its simple. Just put a dress on and be ready to go. You know, less is more. You know it’s all about simplicity,” he said.
Designer Prabal Gurung, a newcomer at the CFDA’s, said although he designs high fashion frocks, he can’t recall a personal faux pas moment. “Most of the time, I’m always in my jeans and t-shirt, so I don’t really have that faux pas moment.”
