Oh no! Such sad news…and now Betty White is the only Golden Girl left!

Veteran Broadway and TV star Rue McClanahan died June 3 at 1 a.m. after suffering a brain hemorrhage Monday, May 31. The actress, who was best known for playing promiscuous cougar Blanche Devereaux on Golden Girls, was 76-years-old. She passed away with her family by her side.

Her rep issued the following statement to HollywoodLife.com:

“Rue McClanahan passed away this morning, June 3rd at 1:00 am at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. She suffered a cerebral hemorrhage on Monday, May 31st. She died peacefully with her son, Mark Bish, her sister, Dr. Melinda L. McClanahan and her nephew, Brendan Kinkade at her side. At her request there will be no funeral. Memorial services will be planned for later this summer in New York and Los Angeles. Her family asked that an official memorial page be established on Facebook. Thanks to her seven years on Golden Girls, Rue — who was married five times — won a whopping four Emmys and three Golden Globe awards. She was truly a star.

Two other Golden Girls have also passed away recently. Bea Arthur (Dorothy) died after battling cancer last year last and Estelle Getty (Sophia) died from natural causes in 2008, leaving 88-year-old comedienne Betty White the last Girl standing.

Rue, we’ll miss you. Thank you for being a friend…
