Betty White On BFF Rue's Death: 'It Hurts More Than I Ever Thought It Would!'

Betty White is destroyed by the death of her good pal Rue McClanahan

Betty White misses her bestie Rue McClanahan, who passed away June 3 at 1 a.m. after a suffering a stroke on May 31.

“Rue was a close and dear friend. I treasured our relationship,” Betty told after hearing about her friend’s death. “It hurts more then I ever thought it would, if that’s possible.”

The two women starred together on the long-running sitcom Golden Girls from 1985 to 1992. Rue played cougarific sexpot Blanche Devereaux, while Betty portrayed ditzy Minnesota widow Rose Nylund. Betty, 88, is the only remaining Golden Girl. Bea Arthur (Dorothy) died after battling cancer last year last and Estelle Getty (Sophia) died from natural causes in 2008.
