Now you can look just as chic as your fave celebs all summer long with these helpful tips!

Accessorizing can make or break an outfit — if you do it right, you can take a plain old tee and with the right jewelry, you’ll be looking as chic as some of your fave celebs! While everyone’s personal taste is different, there are some trends you can bet you’ll be seeing everywhere this summer. Luckily, we got to chat with Jules Smith designer, Gina Nigrelli, who filled us in on the best looks to last you all season long! And, considering that everyone from Miley Cyrus to Jessica Szohr has gotten glammed up in Jules Smith, regardless of your personal style you can’t go wrong with these fool-proof pointers!

“It’s about what looks good, not about wearing as much jewelry as possible,” Gina says. “You have to abandon all the rules first and start wearing things you’re more comfortable with, for example if you’re someone who’s more timid, start with one wrist.”

So, what’s our best bet for spring and summer? “The bangle is gonna be huge, even into the winter,” Gina says. “The cool thing on the red carpet is mixing textures, and in the summer people always get bigger with their jewelry, I think it’s safe to get bigger on the ears during the day and you can wear that with a cute summer sun dress.” Don’t stop there, though! Gina says while you pile on the bangles, feel free to add a ring or two in to the mix. “Stackable rings, three or four at one time, with an armful of bangles looks great!”

While you’re piling on your jewelry, Gina says the most important thing is to feel confident with your picks. “Wear what you feel good in, and if you feel confident you’re gonna feel beautiful!”

So, what’s the designer’s biggest pet peeve? “The biggest faux pas is taking away from your face, a big statement necklace looks better with a stud,” she says. “Don’t be afraid to not wear earrings if u really wanna show off your necklace! My personal rule is, if I wear big earrings, (giant chandeliers or big hoops), I will only wear a long necklace a more muted pendant.”

Gina, who takes most of her inspiration from the environment and vintage, says one of her staple pieces from the Jules Smith collection are her jelly bracelets. “I think the jelly can be worn day or night, you don’t have to layer it and it still looks really sophisticated, I don’t even take my jellies off,” she says. “You can add bangles and dress it up, the jelly brings color in to the look and it doesn’t make it so difficult to mix the metals, they bring another level of distraction into the whole look which makes it really pop!”

According to Gina, we can expect to see a lot more color, even past summer! “For fall, color is coming back big time — big stones, enamels, over-sized pendants,” she says. “The jewelry is getting bigger and brighter. There’s lots of color and cuffs.”

Another rule Gina taught me to disregard was the thought of reserving certain pieces for day and night, “I don’t think theres day or night jewelry, if you wear it well and you’re confident you can wear it whenever.”

So, what’s up next for the celeb jewelry designer? Gina says while jewelry is her passion, she would love to do sunglasses. “Right now I’m sticking with jewelry, but we do see ourselves adding accessories for sure — clutches, sunglasses that type of stuff.” Judging by her cool jewelry creations, I’m sure her accessories would be just as covetable!
