The votes are in and a new champ has been crowned!
America has voted and the new American Idol is LEE DEWYZE! Lee beat out fellow finalist Crystal Bowersox to snag the coveted honor and follow in the footsteps of past champs including Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Jordin Sparks! Even though the judges seemed to prefer Crystal last night, Lee’s versions of U2′s ‘Beautiful Day,’ R.E.M’s ‘Everybody Hurts,’ and Simon & Garfunkel’s ‘The Boxer’ still managed to win over the fans.
Lee has been a favorite this entire season, even past finalist Blake Lewis told us EXCLUSIVELY he expected a Lee victory. We do wish however that Lee would reconsider his first single – ‘Beautiful Day’ is a horrible choice!

U guys ! UGH , How can he reconsider his single if he already released it, btw lee won because hes got more sides to him, he has a folk rock side like Treat her like a lady and alos a country rock side like The Boxer, , When you vote for a contestant in the final, you look back at all their performances the whole season, not just one final, and lee can also enter hard rock, he’s got the potential :)
