Kate may still have her down days, but it sounds like her and the kids are doing great!

Kate Gosselin is definitely adjusting to life as a single mother better these days – even though some of the kids are still upset. Kate told People magazine: “Mady said the other night — which every kid of divorce unfortunately is going to say, and I know to expect this — ‘Im always sad. I’m sad when I’m with you because I miss Daddy, and I’m sad when I’m with Daddy because I miss you.”

The kids are not the only ones getting sad either Kate admits. She says that just the night before “the kids saw me upset: ‘Mommy, were you crying?'” Kate goes on to say these occasional bouts are from internalizing everything to create a calmer daily life for the children. It happens with all single moms Kate, and we are proud of you for being the one person keeping this family together!

Kate said the most difficult thing she has had to deal with this year was splitting the sextuplets’ birthday. Like most children of divorced parents, the kids spent half the day with Kate and the other half with father Jon Gosselin. “That hit me hard,” says Kate. “Sitting there thinking, ‘Six years ago I gave birth to these babies.'” That is totally normal Kate and we think it’s great you and Jon are being so mature about splitting time with the kids!

Perhaps the most dramatic improvement in the People interview is the fact that Kate barely speaks of Jon. Gone is the ill will and hurt she seemed to so frequently display following the pair’s break-up and instead we have a calm, collected Kate who is planning for the future with her children!

The family’s first special without Jon (and without dancing we praywill air June 6 on TLC. So HollywoodLifers, will you be watching Kate Plus 8?
