OMG! We can’t wait to see McDreamy play an action hero! Can you?

It seems that Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey is up for promotions all over Hollywood. First McDreamy gets promoted to Chief of Surgery at Seattle Grace Hospital on Grey’s, and now Entertainment Weekly confirms that Paramount Pictures has signed Patrick on for Transformers 3, the third installment directed by Michael Bay!

Patrick will be joining Megan Fox, Shia LaBeouf, John Malkovich, and The Hangover star Ken Jeong, as the boss of Mikaela Banes (played by Megan). Though not much is yet known about the third edition, we do know that Patrick’s role is “significant to the plot,” reports the mag … which means he will most likely be highly involved in an extraordinary mission to save the world.

The movie will begin filming later this month in parts of the United States, Russia, Africa, and China and is expected to released in the summer of 2011!

We can’t wait to see sexy Mr. Dempsey make the jump from dreamy doctor to action hero. Will you be in the theaters when Transformers 3 hits the big screen? We’ll definitely be there at midnight sharp!
