Max Ryan, Samantha’s sexy new love interest in the Sex and the City sequel, reveals it was Kim’s choice to ditch her boy-toy, and reveals he’ll always find her beautiful regardless of weight or age!
Guess what, Smith Jerrod lovers? Kim Cattrall is sick of boy-toys! In fact, the SATC 2 star is so sick of younger dudes that she actually had a hand in making her new love interest older than a twenty-something!
“It was Kim’s decision — as well as [director] Michael Patrick King, Warner Brothers, New Line and everyone else behind it [to make her love interest older],” Sam’s new onscreen man, Max Ryan, told HollywoodLife.com exclusively during a trip to our LA office.
Samantha is definitely going for a more sophisticated vibe this time around. “You know, I’m not 30 years old, I’m not 25. I’m over 40 years old, and I think that is a different kind of thing for Sam. To have a different kind of perspective on the guy she’s going to date, I think that’s kind of interesting from Samantha’s point of view,” the 43-year-old British hunk says.
Kim, 53, was definitely hands on in selecting her leading man, and the feeling of admiration is definitely mutual! After reading scenes with Kim during the casting process, Max was sold on his co-star. “I was like, ‘Wow!’ She is such a cool girl to just walk in and be looking great. Really natural and open. She sat down and I did my first scene and that was it. She said to Michael Patrick King, ‘I have seen enough. I don’t need to see anymore.’”
Given that the two got along so well, it’s no surprise that Max is defending Kim’s recent 15 lb. weight gain for her role as an ex-porn star in Meet Monica Velour. “[Kim] is an attractive women. Who wouldn’t be interested in her? Whether she is overweight or underweight doesn’t matter. And credit to her, she can do whatever she wants. She’s earned it. She is on top of the world. She’s made a lot of people happy — I’m one of them.”
