Do you want to see the impossible happen — Kristen and Rob smiling in a photo shoot?

We know it’s hard for Twilight couple Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson to smile in photographs, but we’ve found a way to break their serious streak — send expert fashion and celebrity photographer Russell James after them! “I’d probably have to cut loose one of my assistants” on them to show them what to do, Russell told HollywoodLife.com at the 2nd Annual Bent on Learning Benefit sponsored by Alice + Olivia in NYC on Apr. 28.

It’s all about “connectivity,” Russell said. “Just being real about your approach with them and the no BS approach is great. Be very direct, very real and try to connect on a brotherly-sisterly level.”

Russell, who has shot celebrities like Tyra Banks, Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campbell and Heidi Klum, has had his work featured on the covers of Vogue, Elle, Allure, InStyle, Marie Claire and Sports Illustrated — so getting K-Stew and R-Patz to smile wouldn’t require the slightest effort on his part!

Unfortunately, even if two Twilight-ers did drop their “I’m so pissed off and not into this celebrity act at all” schtick, there’s still one place you’ll K-Stew do: Become the face of a Donna Karan campaign! The fashion icon didn’t even know who Kristen was when we asked her last night what she would do to style/dress Kristen if she had the chance.

Now that’s something that Kristen can actually frown about!
