Jessica admits she only brushes her teeth three times a week — but dental experts all agree, this is not good for her oral health!

Jessica Simpson may be one of Hollywood’s most desirable young woman, but the Price of Beauty star recently admitted she only brushes her teeth THREE TIMES A WEEK! The busty blonde, who has snared John Mayer, Nick Lachey, and Tony Romo, says she flosses and use Listerene daily — and claims to have amazing breath — but she hates to brush.

Jess shocked us all when she told Ellen DeGeneres, “I don’t brush them every day. I’ll use a shirt or something. I know it’s gross but I always have fresh breath. It’s really weird, but I have great breath.” And she also said back in March, “no, really. I just use Listerine — and sometimes I’ll use my sweater.”

Well, her breath may be fine …. but isn’t she worried her teeth are going to fall out?! Some of our experts are!

Dr. John Koutsoyiannis of Soho Smile in NYC told, “Ideally, people should brush their teeth after every meal.”

When we asked if simply flossing would do he explained, “Flossing can only remove matter from in between the teeth, brushing is what cleans the broad surfaces. Stains that are left on the teeth for 24 hours cannot be easily removed.” And sure, mouthwash can mask the smell of bad breath “but can’t remove biofilm from the teeth,” Dr. Koutsoyiannis says.  And biofilm is all the plaque that builds up on our teeth, and what leads to dental and gum disease when not removed daily!

Dr. Shawn Sadri, a cosmetic dentist in NYC, agrees.  “The bristles from the toothbrush are what take away all the plaque from the front and back of the teeth.” Flossing is only healthy when it is done “in between” brushing!

As for using her shirt to clean her teeth when they feel grimy? Not a good option, says NYC-based dentist Dr. Laura Torrado. “A shirt as a cleansing tool won’t be efficient enough,” she tells us.

Even if you claim your breath is great Jessica, your smile won’t look so pretty when you’re toothless!
