It’s easy to forget Kim Kardashian was once married to music producer Damon Thomas — and after reading the horrifying accounts in the couple’s divorce documents, it’s easy to see why she left him, as well: Damon was physically and emotionally abusive.
Kim and Damon — who’s worked with artists like Lionel Richie and Pink — eloped in Las Vegas back in 2000 when she only 19-years-old. According to Kim, 29, Damon, now 39, was both physically and emotionally abusive for the entirety of their three-year marriage, which ended in Aug. 2003. Here are some of the shocking allegations:
—Damon told Kim she couldn’t work
“In March 2000, Damon told me to quit my job. He said that he did not want me to have contact with my old boyfriends who would be able to reach me at the clothing store. He said that he wanted to know where I was at all times.”
Kim was forced to play the role of ‘wife’
“He wanted me to prepare his meals when he arrived home. He often arrived home at 4:30 a.m. and expected me to prepare a meal for him at that hour.”
Kim wasn’t allowed to leave the house
“If Damon were not home, I was required to call him and ask permission to leave the house. For example, I had to ask permission to go to the market. On occasion, he told me that I could not leave.”
Damon didn’t want Kim around her family because he thought her mom and sisters were ‘evil’ and ‘whores’
Damon physically abused Kim many times
“Damon first hit me a few months after we were married. I weight approximately 107 pounds and am 5’3″. Damon is approximately 5’10” and weighed at that time approximately 175 pounds.”
“One incident occurred on the day that Damon and I were going skydiving with Justin Timberlake. Before we left our home, Damon hit me in the face and cut my lip open. I fell into the bed frame and banged my knee hard. I was limping when we went skydiving.”
“On another occasion, I was at my mother’s house. Damon learned that I had paged someone and demanded to know whom it was that I had called. I told him the name of the friend. He became enraged and punched me in the face. My face was bruised and swollen as a result. I thought about calling the police but was afraid and decided not to do so.”
