You’ve dangled 10 stories up above the ground and jumped from moving vehicle to moving vehicle in your upcoming movie Salt — that’s NUTS!
Angelina Jolie you’ve always taken pride in doing your own stunts in your movies; it’s one of the reasons you’ve become the top female action star of our day. But there’s a big difference between your turn as Lara Croft in 2001′s Tomb Raider and your role as Evelyn Salt in this summer’s action-thriller Salt — you’re now a mother of six! And while being responsible for so many young lives might inspire some women to stay out of harm’s way, it seems to only be making you MORE adventurous.
“The funny thing about having children is that now I am twice as motivated to do a cool stunt because my kids will like it,” you say in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly.
Angelina, there have to be other ways you can impress your kids — most moms don’t leap from tall buildings! Acting is your job, but now that you have a family, it’s also your responsibility to stay healthy for your kids. Angie, I’m a mom of four and it weighs on me at all times that I have to keep myself safe. My responsibility to my kids is to NOT put myself in harm’s way. Why would you knowingly put yourself in danger like this? Even Salt director Phillip Noyce thinks you’re overdoing it!
“Personally, a lot of the stuff she did in this, I would’ve preferred to do bluescreen,” Phillip tells the mag. “She was often suspended up to 10 stories high and she’d leap from vehicle to vehicle at high speeds. She doesn’t have to do it, but she has absolutely no fear. Usually when an actor becomes more and more successful, they play it safe. But that’s not Angelina Jolie.”
Angie, we know you take your roles very seriously — and we think that’s great — but for the sake of your kids, PLEASE listen to your director’s advice and start playing it safe. You may think you’re invincible – because you’re just 34 and you’re rich, famous and on top of the world — but actors get hurt on set all the time… and in the occasional, tragic instance, some actors have even lost their lives due to carelessness.
For example, Vic Morrow died on the set of Twilight Zone: The Movie in 1982 when a stunt helicopter accidentally fell on him and two other actors. Then there was Bruce Lee‘s son, Brandon Lee, who was accidentally shot and killed on the set of The Crow in 1993.
People will still flock to theaters to see you, even if you do your stunts in front of a bluescreen. And your family will be much better off for it.
You expose yourself to enough danger on your admirable UN mission trips to Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan — but stunts are for entertainment only and not worth your children being deprived of their mother if something goes wrong.

Do you remember why Angelina Jolie got a name for herself in the industry? It was because she was daring and at the edge of every film she’s done. She makes the big bucks because she isn’t afraid to step outside the bubble and do something semi-dangerous. Do you think that anyone is going to put her in a situation that could potentially kill her? No. You know why? Because if you kill the cow you get no more milk (figuratively speaking. She was doing this before children and she is doing it after children. It is a bit sexist. Obama is the first black President…do you have any idea how dangerous that could be? I mean being President alone is dangerous but then you have all these crazy people out there who are racists. Would you expect him to just take a job in a cubical somewhere because life my dear is DANGEROUS. Miss Jolie could walk out a door into a street and get hit by a bus. She could contract a “killer flu”. All these things are more likely to happen than her getting killed on the set. Also when you are talking about these people who have died doing stunts…that was years ago. Things have changed, there are better regulations now and better safety equipment. I’ve read a few of your “stories” and I think you are ridiculous. Perhaps you should stop writing trash (as no child will think that is “cool”) and start living a life of your own without criticizing others. That woman (Angelina Jolie) is 100 times the woman you will ever be because she is true to herself and has a good heart.
