Do you start diets with the best of intentions…only to give up days (or even hours) later? I do! But latest Biggest Loser castoff Drea told me how she’s stayed focused enough to shed some SERIOUS poundage!
Andrea ‘Drea’ Hough weighed 298 pounds when she started The Biggest Loser: Couples in Sept. — and now, less than eight months later — she weighs 206 pounds.
Like all of us who start a diet with the focus of a ninja warrior but quickly lose motivation, the 24-year-old executive’s assistant couldn’t stick to a healthy lifestyle before she started the show. However, after spending months on the Loser ranch, she’s dropped nearly 100 pounds and told me how she finally broke free of the diet curse.
“That [was] the story of my life,” Drea assured me April 14 during a conference call for the show. “I would say that you have to understand that it’s not a short period of time. It’s a lifestyle change. It’s not necessarily a BAD lifestyle change, it’s worth it. You have to stick with it — the food you eat is probably 80%. As long as you keep your food under control, then it’s fine.”
Eat less, lose weight, keep it off. We’ve heard that before! It’s so simple in theory, but why does it always feel impossible?
Drea — who has become a spin instructor since starting her weight loss journey in Sept. — said her trick to staying motivated is to work out with her dad. “Get on board with other people in your life because when you do it alone, you get lonely,” she told me. “And we all know when we’re lonely, we eat.”
Couldn’t have said it better myself! Alright — who wants to be my ‘healthy lifestyle’ BFF? Any takers?
