Michael Lynche was miraculously saved by the ‘American Idol’ judges last week, but his best pal says “he’s a fighter” and can’t wait to prove himself tonight!
With his powerful vocals and professional performing skills, it was a complete surprise the American Idol judges had to implement their one season save on ‘Big’ Michael Lynche April 6. And no one could have been more shocked than Mike himself, his best friend tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively.
“I think [getting the lowest amount of votes] was a little humbling for him,” Ming — Mike‘s long-term bestie and musical collaborator — explained. “It caught him off-guard because he thought he had a very strong performance. Mike’s definitely a fighter and we expect him to bring it hard this week.”
Although he doesn’t know what song Mike, 26, will sing tonight, April 13, for Elvis week, Ming says his buddy knows he needs to wow America after his less-than-popular rendition of The Beatles’ ‘Eleanor Rigby’ last week.
“I think what he’s trying not to do is get caught up in last week’s drama,” Ming said, admitting, “I think it’s a shock to be in that position, but he kind of put it past him and is looking at each round as a challenge.”
We think Mike’s got the whole package — talent, perseverance and charm — but Ming admits his buddy does have one weakness: taking criticism.
“Sometimes when Mike’s given the comments, it’s hard not to react in a way that doesn’t come across as full of himself or defensive,” Ming says. “He tends to joke it off. He’s been working on letting people know his personality more.”
Don’t be afraid to show all of yourself, Mike. We want to see what your fellow Idols see — we know how much they love you!
