Kitty Kelley, the author of Oprah Winfrey’s unauthorized biography, says she’s been refused interviews by everyone from David Letterman to Barbara Walters…because they fear for their own relationships with the host!
Oprah Winfrey is oh-so-powerful — and her pals are scared of making her mad! Kitty Kelley, the author responsible for the talk show host’s tell-all Oprah: The Biography, says that she’s been denied interviews from most of the top talk shows on TV because hosts like David Letterman and Barbara Walters are too scared of Oprah’s wrath!
“Barbara Walters won’t have me on the show because she doesn’t want to upset Oprah,” Kitty, 68, told the Today Show‘s Matt Lauer (one man who’s NOT afraid of Oprah, apparently) April 12, adding, “Even David Letterman, who’s had a 16-year feud with her, said, ‘I don’t really want to disrupt the relationship I now have with her.'”
Also on the list of no-takers? Rachel Ray, Joy Behar, Charlie Rose and even Larry King, Kitty says.
Kitty — who’s also penned juicy books about the Bush family, Nancy Reagan and Frank Sinatra — claims the 56-year-old talk show host is notoriously secretive about her private affairs…particularly in regards to her love life, which is one reason her fans will eat up the 544-paged tome when it hits the stands April 13.
“I really think the fans will love it,” Kitty said. “This book is like high-definition television.”
Although it won’t be on Oprah’s Book Club list any time soon, we bet Oprah: A Biography does just fine with or without the big Barbara Walters sit down.
