Are you as sad as we are that America’s funniest couple has called it quits?

Say it isn’t so! After five years together, Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy are officially over!

“Jenny and I have just ended our 5yr relationship. I’m grateful 4 the many blessings we’ve shared and I wish her the very best! S’okay! ?;^>,” the 48-year-old comedian wrote on his Twitter page April 6.

Jenny, 37, also tweeted about the break-up, writing, “Im so grateful for the years Jim and I had together. I will stay committed to [Jim's daughter] Jane and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart.”

The couple – who haven’t cited a reason for their split – started dating in December, 2005 but didn’t go public with their relationship until June 2006. Although they’re breaking up, it sounds like they’ll still be involved with the other’s child. Jenny was there for Jim’s daughter, Jane, when she gave birth in Feb., and Jim has acted as a surrogate dad to Jenny’s autistic 7-year-old son, Evan.

We’re shocked – and saddened. Jenny and Jim were the perfect couple! Although the two were adamantly against marriage, they were so in love. “[What does marriage mean?] I’ll be yours forever?” Jenny has said. “I’ll be faithful? Bull! He is the light of my life and we’re more in love now than we have been in our entire relationship.”

If only that were still true.
