Miley Cyrus’ first big bid to be a serious actress — in The Last Song — didn’t burn up the box-office this weekend, pulling in an estimated $16 million this weekend.

Miley, you might want to reconsider that whole I’m-Never-Recording-Another-Album thing, since your movie career isn’t exactly exploding. The numbers on your weekend debut with boyfriend Liam Hemsworth of The Last Song are out, as reports, and it should gross around $16 million for the weekend.

By contrast, Amanda Seyfried and her own Nicholas Sparks-based film, Dear John, made $30 million in ticket sales in February, almost double Song‘s output. And you didn’t quite measure up to Jennifer Aniston‘s The Bounty Hunter unfurling, which made $20 million last weekend.

Here’s some good news: Your studio decided to release the film on Wednesday, a couple days earlier than normal, so it could make about $25 million in its first five days.

Another attention getting crazy post. This is like tell Angelina Jolie not to give up her day job. The Last Song’s opening about DOUBLED what Angelina’s last drama opened with, and also almost opened with what Robert Pattinson’s movie made IN TOTAL! Dramas make less money at the box office. In fact, Dear John has become the 10th highest grossing drama of all time, and Miley’s movie will do very well on that chart also.

Uuumm The last song didn’t blow at the box office ?? are you SERIOUS ? the film grossed 26 millions in 5 days, it covered all the production costs (20mill) u usually say a movie didn’t blow at the box office when it doesn’t its production cost but with the last song it did.. and in 5 days !!! how can that b a flop ?
Clash of titans made 63 millions.. but its production costs are 110 mill !!!

Dear john’s success is due to the millitary them. not anything else, all the militarry families went to see that movie, it also had a 2 months and a half promo, while The Last SOng only had a 3 weeks promo !!

the last song had way more time to promo, and all it brought in was 16 million over the weekend, by mostly tweenie girls like you three(and their reluctant chaperons, like me) who had nothing better to do than idolize and defend your horse faced nasty buck toothed UNtalented idol. The MAJORITY of the reviews and movie critics slaughter her horrible acting abilities, for lack of a better word. The movie sucked, i unfortunately know, i HAD to take my 9 year old sister and our 10 year old cousin, while the boys all got to go see Clash of the Titans.
