Can You Believe Darryl Strawberry QUIT ‘The Apprentice’ Last Night?!

Former Yankees player Darryl Strawberry was “fired” from The Celebrity Apprentice last night, March 28, even though he wasn’t the obvious choice to go home! Darryl reveals to HollywoodLife.com the shocking reason behind his premature departure from the reality show — and, believe it or not, it wasn’t because of Donald Trump!

“I’m extremely grateful to Mr. Trump. A lot of my reason for leaving the show was from being so exhausted,” the 48-year-old baseball pro tells us March 29. “I hit a point in the show and I was tremendously tired from coming off of my book tour, I hit a wall and I had nothing left in my tank—I’d normally never give up, it was nothing personal [towards Mr. Trump].”

And while Mr. Trump usually isn’t a fan of quitters, Darryl hopes the business mogul will understand. “I hope [Trump] was content with my decision, most of the people there understood my schedule was grueling, I think Donald was shocked because we’re both New Yorkers and he respected me and I just didn’t have the energy anymore.”

Who knew a book tour could be so tiring? Overall, Darryl has “no regrets” because he “left in good grace and was a team player the entire time.” But don’t count on seeing Darryl on any other reality shows anytime soon; he “only did it for Mr. Trump!”
