Macy Gray has a new album coming out June 22 — and we have exclusive details from her recent concerts!
Hey BFFs, do you still have Macy Gray‘s “I Try” stuck in your head from way back in 1999? Don’t lie, you loved it. And it sounds like you’ll have plenty more to love from Macy, 42, as she’s preparing to release her fifth studio album, The Sellout! Macy’s been all over the country recently, performing and promoting her album, and now HollywoodLife.com has exclusive details from concert-goers that we think will Macy fans will love.
One concert-goer raved to HollywoodLife.com about Macy’s performance at Perez Hilton’s One Night in Austin during South By Southwest on March 16 in Austin, Tx. “Even people who weren’t ever big fans of Macy said they genuinely enjoyed her performance,” they told us. “She played a cover of Arcade Fire‘s ‘Wake Up,’ which was amazing. She had the same old Macy Gray voice, but has really put together a great band.”
Our SXSW source also couldn’t believe how down-to-earth Macy was, as she actually came down from the stage to mingle with fans in the crowd. She danced with fans and even posed for photos in AriZona Beverages’ 3-D photo booth. (How cool is that?)
And Macy’s most recent performance March 23 at the opening of the new Esprit store in Manhattan got even more positive feedback. “The new song is pretty good!” an eyewitness told us about Macy’s performance “Beauty in the World,” the first single off The Sellout. “She also played ‘I Try,’ which of course got everyone singing.”
We’re so glad to hear that Macy is back on the music scene! We haven’t really seen her since her stint on Dancing with the Stars in 2009, and we can’t wait for her to be totally back in action!
