Looking for a fun, fresh, springy makeup look for the weekend? Try Emmy Rossum’s metallic shadow!
Tired of the typical dark smoky eye every time you hit the town? Let Emmy Rossum’s silvery eye she sported to the Ecco Domani fashion party in NYC on Mar. 14 be your inspiration. “This look is perfect for this time of year,” says celebrity makeup artist Ricky Wilson who created this look for Emmy. “We’ve just ended winter so we want to shake off some of the black and purple hues which kept us going all winter. It’s the perfect fresh look for spring!” Ricky was inspired by Emmy’s silvery blue Christian Siriano dress. “I was going for an eye that pops in the evening without the use of dark shadows,” Ricky says. Don’t think you can pull off the metallic look? Think again! “Grey and silver shadows are really great to use for any skin tone and eye color,” Ricky says.
- “My rule with shimmer is – anything in moderation is OK at any age or any time,” Ricky says. “The way you keep it classy is just to isolate the shimmer.” To do this, Ricky only brought the silvery shadow a little above Emmy’s crease. Also, he avoided any frostiness under her brow bone.
- To bring the look together on the eye, Ricky lined Emmy’s lids with a liquid pen. “It helps to elongate the eye and give it just the right amount of drama,” Ricky says.
- For Emmy’s lips, Ricky opted for a light lip. “The soft peach lip gives a balance to the face,” he says. Want a more dramatic lip for the night? “It also can go with pink or red hues as well.”
- Lastly, “with this look you want to make sure that your under eye looks bright and awake,” Ricky says. He suggests setting your concealer with a loose, light reflecting powder. - Marta Topran
