Are YOU stoked to see the Smurfs get a live-action modern-day remake? We are!

Summer 2011 is going to be the invasion of our favorite little blue creatures — and no, we don’t mean the Na’vi. That’s right, after much speculation, The Smurfs movie remake has FINALLY been cast, and HollywoodLife.com chatted exclusively with two of the newest cast members — Hank Azaria and Alan Cumming – to dish the dirt on the upcoming flick!

“I play the the evil wizard, Gargamel, who’s running around chasing the Smurfs,” Hank, 45, told us at the ‘Backstage at the Geffen’ charity event in Westwood, Calif. March 22. “The Smurfs are little blue computer generated animation and I’m a real live person…with prosthetics and I’m bald.”

The Simpsons actor pointed to his freshly shaved head, explaining he only officially signed on to the project just “seconds” before arriving at the event — a pretty close call considering the movie begins shooting March 29!

“We’re just scrambling,” Hank admitted. “We’re trying to get a character and sound for Gargamel and a voice for him…and well, yeah, it’s been a little crazy.”

Minutes before, Hank’s smurfy co-star, award winning stage and film actor Alan Cumming, 45, dished to us about his character, Gusty Smurf. Watch the video to see why Alan thinks he’s perfect for the role (and no, it isn’t because he and Gusty dress alike, either)!
