Haven’t YOU ever been freaked out before your first big day on the job?
After turning down producers for years, Shannon Doherty is FINALLY competing on season 10 of Dancing with the Stars. But her partner, two-time DWTS champion Mark Ballas, told HollywoodLife.com that the original 90210 actress is so nervous to perform that she’s actually breaking out in hives!
“She’s never danced a step in her life and she has a live-audience fear. She gets hives, itchy, red hives,” Mark, 23, revealed to us at Ferrari’s auction for Haiti in Los Angeles March 18.
But how will the couple deal with Shannen’s nerves when the show premieres on ABC tonight, March 22? “I don’t know yet,” the dance pro admitted, adding, “I keep joking with her that I’m going to put rhinestones on them so we don’t notice.”
If anything, Shannen’s fears have only increased now that the show’s premiere is looming large in just a few short hours. The 38-year-old actress told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show this morning that she’s “nervous” and “freaking out” about performing in front of a live audience. “I don’t know what I’m going to do about this,” she complained, conceding, “All I can really do is do my best.”
It seems odd someone with such a phobia would even commit to a performance-based show like DWTS, but after hearing Shannen’s reason for joining, we’re pulling for her!
“My dad on Christmas had a massive stroke and he lost his ability to speak and a lot of his mobility,” Shannen explained. “It was really rough. When I mentioned Dancing with the Stars kind of as a joke…he got really excited and we kind of struck a deal. He’s going to go in there and work really hard in regaining his speech and his mobility, and I’m going to work on performing in front of a live audience.”
Aww — good luck, Shannen! With a partner as talented as Mark, we’re sure you’ll be fine!

I saw him with Derek Hough and their band and thought Derek was a much better singer/musician and performer. Mark makes such ugly faces when he sings – it shouldn’t be that painful to hit those notes. He’s not bad but I would only look at youtube videos and not spend any money.
