Time to say goodbye to the stick-thin model trend. Gorgeous and glamorous is back!
We told you this was going to a big deal! Skinny models are no longer ruling the runways as designers have given them the boot. In their place, gorgeous SUPERMODELS are hitting the catwalk. We caught up with Sports Illustrated model Julie Henderson and Ralph Lauren model Chris Collins on the red carpet of Niche Media’s Annual Gotham Magazine Gala and they told us that this change is HUGE for the industry and for women everywhere!
When asked what she thought about Prada firing the skinny models from its Feb. 24 show and replacing them with Victoria’s Secret Angels at the last minute, Julie said,”I love it, I love it, I love it. I’m so happy that they did that because it portrays more of a womanly body type. I’m not a size zero, and I still come off as sexy! I think every girl or woman should pick up on that!”
“At the end of they day, those are the women that are buying the clothes,” Julie said. “Hopefully it will change the way girls try to starve themselves or have an eating disorder. Nobody’s like that. It’s not a healthy mentality.”
“That’s not the consumer, although there are women that are skinny and different sizes,” Chris explained. “I think it’s a testament of where fashion is going. … I hope that it’s something that sticks!”
