Do you think Lacey Brown deserved to go home last night?
When Lacey Brown got the boot from American Idol on March 17, was I sad? No, not really. Were you?
The 24-year-old Amarillo, Texas native has one of those Minnie Mouse voices that just completely killed me every time I heard her sing. Admittedly, her rendition of “Ruby Tuesday” during Rolling Stones week wasn’t TOO soul-destroying but still – I just couldn’t deal with one more week of her screechy warbling.
Also in the bottom three: 20-year-old Texan cutie Tim Urban and ex-preschool teacher Paige Miles, 24. In my opinion, Tim should have gone home long ago. I know, I know – some of you are going to disagree with me. “But he’s SO CUTE.” Cute doesn’t cut it in a singing competition, I’m afraid. And just putting it out there – Lilly Scott and Alex Lambert had to go home so that Tim could stay. I’m bitter.
Paige and Tim both sang the same song – “Honky Tonk Woman” – and apparently America, you just aren’t that into it. But I actually started to like Paige this week. Although she had laryngitis, I still think she did miles better than usual.
Did all of these three belong in the bottom three? Actually – no. Lacey and Tim, I’m with you, America. But as much as I love Andrew Garcia, 24, he really blew it this week with his version of “Gimme Shelter.” The only things that needed rescuing after his performance were my eardrums.
The judges also introduced their ‘save’ last night – where they bestow a wild card on one deserving contestant that they believe just had a craptastic week. Lacey didn’t get that card – but did you honestly believe she would?
