EXCLUSIVE! Blake Lewis Asks: ‘How Did Tim Urban Get Picked To Stay On The Show When Lilly Scott Had To Go Home?’

Do you agree with HollywoodLife.com’s own Idol judge?

Blake Lewis knows talent when he sees it – and the former American Idol Season 6 runner-up isn’t at all impressed with Season 9 contender Tim Urban.

“How did this guy get picked to stay on the show when people like Lilly Scott have to go home?!” the incredulous 28-year-old wonders on his weekly HollywoodLife.com American Idol blog.

Funny, Blake, we were thinking the exact same thing! Check out the rest of Blake’s highlights from the March 16 episode of Idol here!

Highlight One: Michael Lynche starting out the show with “Miss You”. This is one of my favorite Rolling Stones titles, and Michael’s arrangement was so fresh and so clean, clean. He gave it a nice RnB swagger. It was a great way to start the show, and it seemed like he was the only one to channel The Rolling Stones the whole evening.

Highlight Two: Didi Benami. Although the arrangement of “Playing With Fire” was a little linear, Didi showed a darker, sexier side, which I enjoyed.

Highlight Three: Siobahn Magnus. I believe she must be two singers trapped in one body. She started off her performance of “Paint It Black” really subtle, with an amazing string arrangement, and then the drums kicked in and she put on her game face. She ended up using her other voice (the one at the top of her range) screaming into a soft falsetto finish, which was perfect. Best vocal performance of the night.

Highlight Four: Crystal Bowersox closed the night with “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”. It was a great finish to a not so great night for me. The arrangement worked really well for Crystal. It showed her singer/songwriter side and her voice sounded great. She has been hit or miss the last couple of weeks with her song choices, but this week worked in her favor.

Lowlight: Tim Urban. How did this guy get picked to stay on the show when people like Lilly Scott have to go home?! My main lowlight is that not a single person performing on that massive stage really gave a good “Rolling Stones” type performance.

What are you guys feeling?

I agree. I’m not saying Tim can’t sing but he’s the rest of the contestants, especially Alex and Lilly, are just much MUCH better singers AND artists…

Iam wondering how most of these people stayed and Lilly was sent home. The judges should save her and bring her back. This is the worst year and allowing someone as talented as Lilly to be booted off makes it worse..
Come on Simon your the leader of the pack bring Lilly back. Break or change some rules…..
