Kristen Stewart is going to blow Robert Pattinson out of the box office water!
R-Patz’s first wide-release flick since Twilight — the Summit Entertainment film Remember Me — did not leave a major mark on movie goers this weekend. Though the film only cost $16 million to make, and recouped about $8.3 million in its first weekend, Remember Me still came in at number four, behind Alice In Wonderland and The Green Zone.
Though Rob’s fans are defending him, reviews of the film were mixed, and many were disappointed by the film’s depressing ending.
The New York Times called the script “absurdly contrived” and said the film was full of “self-importance.” Entertainment Weekly slapped Remember Me with a grade of “D+” and labeled it an “engorged romantic tragedy” and “a shameless contraption of ridiculously sad things befalling attractive people.” Ouch!
But Kristen, Rob’s real-life love interest and upcoming Eclipse co-star, is expected to receive a MUCH warmer welcome when her new movie — River Road Entertainment’s The Runaways, a biopic about rockers Joan Jett and Cherie Currie — opens March 19!
The Hollywood Reporter raved: ”The Runaways bursts with energy, youth, excess, female empowerment, sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll” and said, “It’s an instant hit worldwide.” Though it is opening against Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler in The Bounty Hunter, Kristen’s film is still expected to do really well and she is already getting praise for her performance.
But do you think Rob will be crushed if his girlfriend stomps out his movie? And tell us! Who do YOU think will have the better box office weekend — Kristen or Rob?
