Wouldn’t YOU cry if Oprah gave you her support?
Oscar-nominee Mo’Nique had a special party crasher at her Precious luncheon March 6 at Philippe Chow in Los Angeles — Oprah Winfrey! Yes, Oprah and her BFF Gayle King stopped by during dessert and shared an array of goodies, while wishing the Best Supporting Actress nominee good luck.
Mo’Nique was so happy to see Oprah that she started to cry in the middle of lunch! The MAC-sponsored luncheon started at noon but Mo’Nique and her pals stayed past 5 p.m. and started dancing at the bar. They had the music turned up loud and left the restaurant by forming a dance line out the door to their cars.

Mo’nique is not an actor, she’s a comedian. Most of her past roles have portrayed her as herself. The depth of her stage talent has been the courage to talk about sex w/her on the down low husband and overuse of 4-letter words. She is not a mother and if fiction is closer to reality, she does not appear to have a maternal manner about her. This leads me to believe that Mo knows the character from a woman close to her, maybe her mother.
I grew up on military bases we had good/bad mothers. A family of 5 lived next door. I shared a wall w/T, who was the middle child of brothers. The repetition began w/parents arguing, a slammed door, King blasting the “Thrill is Gone”, followed by bathwater running then T’s screams. Her legs scared by her mother, she was daddy’s girl. For African American Mothers this IS NOT a maternal norm. This monster mother is underwritten by the institution of 300 years of slavery. Oprah gave us the highly rejected film, Beloved, that addressed the root cause of one madness manifested and imposed upon the African American experience. Cruelty by some breeds cruelty in others. War creates similar madness’.
