Mariah Carey’s drink of choice, Maria Bello’s potential new man, and more — get all the details here!
You may THINK you caught all the best moments from last night’s Independent Spirit Awards, but trust us — plenty of great stuff slipped right under the radar. HollywoodLife.com‘s Laura Schreffler was on the scene, and now she’s filling you in on everything you need to know about the Jameson-sponsored event.
Lenny Kravitz & Maria Bello — New potential couple?
Lenny Kravitz arrived holding hands with his daughter Zoe, but he was also spotted holding hands with Maria Bello later in the evening, after the two presented an award together. There seems to be some kind of flirtation going on! When they walked offstage, they went in separate directions, but Lenny’s seat was close to the stage and he was definitely watching her.
Mariah Carey — Not drinking!
While most in attendance were downing drinks, Mariah Carey passed, opting to sip water all evening instead. Also, it’s odd that she was NOT sitting at the same table as her Precious co-stars Gabourey Sidibe and Mo’Nique’.
Maggie Gyllenhaal & Jeff Bridges — Total BFFs!
Who knew Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jeff Bridges were so close? Maggie was announcing the Best Actor award with Ryan Reynolds, and interrupted Ryan to say, “I really think I should say this one” when announcing Jeff. She cut Ryan off again to proclaim Jeff the winner. He pulled her up to the front, hugged her and thanked her for being so amazing. They wrapped their arms around one another and walked offstage. Very cute!
Maggie’s wardrobe malfunction!
Maggie’s boob was hanging out of her dress. The camera kept panning to her, and people were whispering that someone should tell her to cover up.
Gabourey Sidibe’s standing ovation!
Most of the people in the room, including Jeff Bridges, gave Gabby a standing ovation when she won Best Actress. She told a story about how her mom paid her $2 a day to go to school, and how she saved her money so that she could see the film Welcome to the Dollhouse. She realized when she saw that film, “hey, this is something I could really do” and thus her “independent spirit” was born. “Sorry,” she apologized, “I know I sound cheesy.”
Justin Timberlake — Will he be in the Precious sequel?
John Waters presented with Olivia Wilde, and the two were joking onstage about making a new movie called Son of Precious. John said the son could be played by Justin Timberlake (Gabby’s crush!) and the camera panned to her as she was cracking up. He also suggested that Precious could have been played by Miley Cyrus.
