Yeah, Peter – you DO sound supportive of your wife…in more ways than one!

Peter Sarsgaard is happy as a clam that his wife, Maggie Gyllenhaal, is up for a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award this Sunday, March 7. But how, exactly, did he help her celebrate her good news?

” I loved her up!” the 38-year-old actor told at a luncheon honoring his An Education co-star Carey Mulligan March 5. He added, “I mean, you know…I already think she’s been nominated a million times in my head. The fact that everyone else caught on at some point, well, I think that’s great. It doesn’t really change what I think of her.”

Can we all just ‘awwww’ now please? The proud hubby also tells us how he explained to the couple’s 3-year-old daughter, Ramona, why mommy wouldn’t be around as much.

“We talked about it in terms of why we are around less,” he said. “We tell her there’s this thing that happened where Mommy did a good job and normally we wouldn’t go out every evening , but we’ll go out every evening until Sunday.”

If Ramona doesn’t understand now, she certainly will if Maggie, 32, comes home with a trophy on Sunday night!
