A lot of work goes into making sure your favorite ladies look fab all Oscar night!

Oscar day isn’t just a huge day for movies, it’s a huge day for beauty, too. Olay Celebrity Makeup Artist Bruce Grayson is the 2010 Academy Awards Makeup Department Head. Basically, he’s in charge of making sure that every presenter, winner, dancer and performer is ready for their big moment on stage. “It’s like running a marathon,” Bruce says. “You have to be standing by for the makeup that might fall apart, the false eyelash that might pop off or the woman that cries.” And, with rain showers predicted for Sunday night, we’re sure Bruce will have more than enough beauty mishaps to deal with!

So, what’s Oscar day like for your fave celebs? “The Oscar day starts very, very early. They’re leaving the house by 1, hitting the red carpet by 3. And then the show is so long. Makeup just doesn’t last that long,” Bruce says. “We have to come up with fixes for all those problems.”

Backstage at the Oscars it’s all about speed. “Everybody walks by the green room makeup area before they go on stage,” Bruce says. “They want to check out how they look. Sometimes they need a lot of touch ups, other times they’re just looking in the mirror to make sure they look ok.”

Bruce’s beauty arsenal consists of a few, fast-acting must-haves for a last minute touch up. “I use Olay Regenerist Anti Aging Eye Roller to depuff eyes in a second. Then, I move on to Laura Mercier Secret Camoflage concealer and blend it out in seconds, it blends really rapidly,” Bruce says. “Then, if I need to do a quick smoky eye, I’ll use Cover Girl Smoky ShadowBlast. Under dark and shaky circumstances, I can whip out a smoky eye really quickly with them,” Bruce says. Another must-have for the ladies before they step on stage are blotting papers. “People get powder crazy they don’t realize they get so much powder it just makes the skin older than it be,” Bruce warns.

Wow! I figured it was probably crazy backstage – but this? Oh my, what a job he has lol! I cannot even imagine the pressure of makeup. I personally hardly wear any at all and only choose natural anti-aging products like olive oil for moisturizer and my Vidazorb OPC age defense supplement. That’s about it for me aside a little lip color! This was fun to know though!
