This is a tragic turn of events for the Growing Pains actor.

UPDATE: Andrew Koenig’s father, Star Trek actor Walter Koenig, made a brief statement Feb. 25 about his late son, TMZ is reporting. He confirmed that Andrew committed suicide, and he urged anyone suffering from depression to seek help now before it’s too late. “What you can learn from this … is that there are people out there who really, really care,” Walter said. “Before you make that final decision … talk to somebody.”

Andrew had been missing since Feb. 14, and earlier this week Walter said his son was suffering from depression. Fellow child star, Full House‘s Candace Cameron, told exclusively Feb. 24 that the situation was “heartbreaking.” “My heart goes out to him,” she told us. “It goes out to his family.”

After more than a week of searching, police think they have found Andrew Koenig’s body in Vancouver

This story is still developing, but police believe they’ve found the body of missing child star Andrew Koening, 41 around noon on Feb. 25 in Vancouver’s Stanley Park, TMZ is reporting.

The former Growing Pains star has been missing since Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.

A news conference is scheduled for 5 PM PST today.
