Jody and Shannon confess they barely slept or ate while competing on the show!
HollywoodLife.com caught up with the losing team from the Feb. 21 episode of Amazing Race Jody, then 71, and Shannon, then 22, who were the very first grandmother/granddaughter team ever on on the show. Jody admitted they decided to do it because “it seemed like the right time for both of us. No Responsibilities and nothing to tie us down because I just graduated college and grandma was finished taking care of everyone.”
We wondered what they would have done differently or if they thought about forming an alliance. Jody told us they decided to “run our own race and we weren’t expecting be approached for an alliance thinking no one would want to join the ‘old lady’ combination.” I think they seemed like a sweet team! They did end up getting a late start being the last couple out of Santiago but Jody admits that was what she thinks was the sole cause of there loss, “I wasn’t able to find the pantry. I had assumed it was in a kitchen not in the backyard in a shed”.
Overall, Jody and Shannon thought it was a great experience to see the “beauty of Chile.” But it all wasn’t fun and games the most difficult part Shannon told us, was the “commulitive stress of no sleep, no food, so much of the race is travel so sleeping on an 11 hour bus ride.” Jody’s advice to you, if you ever make it on Amazing Race, “Train as much as you can, be aggressive and practice.” Sound slike good advice to us! join us next Monday with next weeks losing contestants. -Jennifer Murray
