Right before Fashion Week started, Alexander McQueen was found dead in his London apartment. Now his fans and friends have some answers.
British Fashion Designer Alexander McQueen was found dead in his London apartment Feb. 11 and although the British coroner’s office has not called his death a suicide — coroner officer Lynda Martindill said McQueen, 40, died from “asphyxiation and hanging.”
Coroner officials in London believe foul play was not involved in the designer’s death, and an autopsy is under way. A note was found near McQueen’s body, but the contents were not released to the public. The coroner’s office is expected to release further details on Apr. 28.
McQueen was very close to his mother, Joyce, who passed away Feb. 2. Days later, McQueen wrote on his Twitter page: “Been a f***ing awful week, but my friends have been great but now I have to some how pull myself together.”
He died right before his mothers funeral. McQueen was also still reeling from the death of his mentor and best friend Isabella Blow who committed suicide in 2007. McQueen had an upcoming fashion show in Paris scheduled for Mar. 9.
