Producers want to replace boring song-and-dance routines with fresh, young (and hot) talent. Are you into it?
If you want to catch the Beyonce/Hugh Jackman high-kicking displayed at last year’s Academy Awards ceremony, sorry friends – you’re going to have to turn to Turner Movie Classics instead. Oscarcast executive producers Adam Shankman and Bill Mechanic want big ratings, and are enlisting the help of Hollywood hunks like Taylor Lautner and Channing Tatum to get the job done.
According to Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood, not only are Adam and Bill focusing on Tinseltown hotties, but they want to ax the Original Song presentations altogether. Bouncing those nominees – sorry, guys! – will free up some time so you’ll be able to feast your eyes on sexy stars like Channing, 29, and Taylor, 18, though its not confirmed whether they will be presenting or simply just making an appearance.
However, while the two producers are hoping their stunt-casting pays off, they don’t want to leave H-town legends out in the cold, either. Can you imagine 60-year-old Meryl Streep getting her Best Actress acceptance speech getting cut-off so Miley Cyrus can promote The Last Song?
Sorry Mom and Dad. It sounds like you won’t even recognize this year’s ceremony, but at least you’ll have hosts Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin to help you look back fondly on the olden days, which we like to call the 2009 Oscars.
