Who knew that being charitable could be so freakin’ fashionable?
Maybe we should call Sarah Jessica Parker’s newest flick ‘Charity in the City’.’ Why? The Sex and the City star is so supportive of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual) cause that she parted with her own tickets to the Sex and the City 2 world premiere for a whopping $11,000!
The 44-year-old actress – who’s best known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in the SATC films – generously auctioned off her pair of tickets at the Human Rights Campaign’s 9th annual gala at NYC’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Feb. 6. Can you imagine Carrie missing her own premiere? The horror!
But although Sarah Jessica was the most generous, she certainly wasn’t the only giver at the gala. Ugly Betty‘s Michael Urie auctioned off a dinner date with himself (adding a “kiss” to increase bidding) and Real Housewives of New York City star Jill Zarin and Project Runway‘s Tim Gunn got in on the action by donating a joint day of lunch and shopping to the lucky highest bidder.
Jill, who was introduced as “the LGBT community’s favorite housewife” — got the gala off to a strong start announcing, “I can’t stand the fact the LGBT Americans are still being treated like second class citizens” to a major round of applause.
Kudos to everyone for their generosity!
If you had unlimited funds, would you rather go the Sex and the City premiere or hang out with Tim Gunn and Jill?
