The Grammys were great … overall. But there were still some pretty blah moments. What did you think?
Compared to some past ceremonies, I actually thought this year’s Grammy Awards were great. The industry decided to award and honor big names (and huge sellers) like Taylor Swift, Kings of Leon, and Lady Gaga (well, sort of) and it paid off!
But despite the huge star power of last night’s awards on CBS, the show was not without some major disappointments — including Taylor Swift’s performance!
Ok, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Tay. I sing “You Belong With Me” in the shower like every single day. But her pitchy, off-key duet with Stevie Nicks was a major disappointment. Not only did Taylor sound bad, Stevie Nicks looked like she would have rather been cleaning her carpets than singing on stage with Taylor!
And the banjo version of “You Belong With Me” made me want to cry! Why not sing the version we all love, Taylor? I’m happy you won — you deserve it — I just wish you would have used Auto-Tune!
The other major disappointment was the Michael Jackson tribute. There was SO much hype about the 3-D (did anyone figure out how to get their glasses before hand?) and the song they chose was kind of … lame. Again, I GET IT. Michael’s dream was for us to take better care of our Earth. But MY dream was to see a group of performers like Beyonce, Fergie, and Gaga doing “Thriller!”
Not Celine Dion and Usher singing “Earth Song.” But maybe that’s just me.
And finally, the fact that Stephen Colbert could beat out Kathy Griffin for anything is just insane. Kathy deserved the Grammy for best comedy album! She is the funniest person alive!
So, I have only one thing to say to you, Mr. Colbert: “Suck It!”
