John Travolta and Kelly Preston flew their own plane to help relief efforts in Haiti!

John Travolta upped the ante this week by flying his own Boeing 707 to Haiti on Jan. 25 to help bring relief to the hundreds of thousands of people suffering. “We have the ability to actually help make a difference in the situation in Haiti, and I can’t see not using this plane to help.”

The From Paris with Love star and wife Kelly Preston flew doctors and four tons of military food rations and medical supplies to the suffering country. This is the second plane load of supplies that Travolta has sent down in the last week.

Controversially, also on board were ministers and volunteers from John’s church, the Church of Scientology. Scientologists have been widely criticized for using disasters as a public relations tool.

“It’s not unlike when my wife and I saw New Orleans,” said the 55-year-old actor. “[We] were there with this airplane. We have the ability and the means to do this, and you have a responsibility on some level to do that.”

“I hope that inspires others as well,” Travolta said. “It’s needed.”
