Scarlett Johansson and Liev Schreiber both shine on stage!

Although A View From The Bridge will officially open tonight on Broadway, Hollywoodlife.com got a sneak peek of the Arthur Miller play last week during previews — and we liked what we saw! I didn’t know what to expect considering it was Scarlett Johansson‘s debut on Broadway, however, being paired against the super talented pro Liev Schreiber certainly helped! While Liev, (who plays Eddie, a longshoreman from Red Hook, Brooklyn, who is obsessed with his niece, Catharine (played by Scarlett)), certainly carried the play, Scarlett kept up with him perfectly! The actress turned stage-starlet was composed and well-rehearsed. Scarlett really seemed at home on the set, and we were even impressed with her credible accent — executing lines on stage, (especially in a period piece), is an area where many actors tend to slip up, but she did just fine and was very convincing! The rest of the cast also had us wrapped up in the story, including Jessica Hecht, who did a phenomenal job in the role of Eddie (Liev’s) wife.

The thing that stood out most in Scarlett’s performance was how comfortable she looked on stage interacting with the other actors. She fully committed to the role! I’ve seen many actresses in the past on Broadway, (like Katie Holmes), and they usually deliver an over-the-top performance that doesn’t flow with the rest of the cast. Luckily that wasn’t the case here!

When it came time to take a final bow, the cast came out and Scarlett and Liev walked off the set smiling and giggling with their arms around each other — you can really tell they enjoy working together!

So, is it worth seeing? Definitely! Even if you aren’t a fan of Scarlett or if you prefer musicals, I think you will walk away with much more than you expected!

I’ve never seen a broadway play before. For some reason I feel like I’d laugh throughout the entire thing. I’m so immature.
