“I knew it was official this morning when NBC dropped off all my cd’s and picked up it’s lava lamp,” Conan said last night.
“Tomorrow, this is official, will be the very last Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. Now, obviously, this was not our first choice, this was not our 8th choice. But, I’m determined to make the best of this situation. So ladies and gentlemen and people who are watching, here is the plan…tonight and tomorrow night we are going to have a lot of fun on television. That’s what we’re going to do,” Conan O’Brien said last night during his second to last appearance as host of NBC’s Tonight Show. “We lucked out, we were lucky to have this job for ten minutes,” he continued. Conan, we must say, we are very sad to say goodbye to you!
“This is really hard for me though. I’ve been with NBC for a really long time, a really long time. Remember the Cosby show? I was Rudy,” said Conan. Conan, though it does feel like you have had “this job for [about] ten minutes,” you have been with NBC for a very long time — since 1993 as the host of The Late Night Show with Conan O’Brien. You started hosting the Tonight Show in June of 2009. For all of your hard work, you definintely deserve the sweet deal NBC’s offered you — a severance of $32.5 million for yourself and $7.5 million for your staff. You didn’t just “luck out,” you made it happen!
So, Conan, we wish you the best of luck becoming the “future Donkie Kong Champion!” You have a lot of time on you hands now, so we bet that you’re definitely “going to get so good at that game.”
Seriously though, we are going to miss you buddy!
