After fighting breast cancer since 2005, the Survivor passed away Jan. 19 at the age of 37.
Jennifer “Jenn” Lyon, the fourth place finalist on Survivor Palau in 2005, died at her Oregon home Jan. 19 after fighting stage three breast cancer for the last five years. She was only 37.
Diagnosed two months after wrapping season ten of Survivor, the then 32-year-old Encino, Calif. native battled the disease head on, undergoing chemotherapy and a double mastectomy.
“I felt fine that day; in fact, I’ve been healthy my entire life,” Jen told US Weekly when she first underwent treatment. The cancer reportedly went into remission, but returned in Jenn’s bones.
Despite her illness, Jenn fought to be an inspiration to other breast cancer victims until the very end, even opening up a Christmas tree lot and donating proceeds to cancer research.
