Is La La Land’s Marc Wootton the next Sacha Baron Cohen?
You probably don’t know who Marc Wootton is — yet. But rest assured you’ll learn to know his name quickly when he debuts his new show, La La Land, on Showtime Jan 25.
Marc, like Sacha Baron Cohen, is a U.K. import who crosses the pond to play pranks on helpless Americans. Also like Sacha — whose aliases include Borat, Bruno and Ali G. — this jokester stars in the documentary/comedy hybrid as three fictitious characters, including an aspiring director, wannabe superstar psychic and an action star hopeful.
The catch: everybody else in the show, including his sidekicks, are real people and completely oblivious that the guy they’re working with and talking to is a complete phony!
We can’t wait to see Marc’s British brand of shenanigans — although we just hope he leaves out the male-on-male naked wrestling scenes like Sacha did in Borat. Yeah, that’s way too much TMI — even for La La Land.
