Prepare yourself for the unexpected: Now that series regular Kayla Ewell has been killed off, no character is safe on CW’s hit vamp show.
Will they stay or will they go? That’s the question you should be asking yourself when Vampire Diaries returns to the small screen on Jan. 21 at 8 p.m. Unfortunately, only the producers know — and they certainly want to keep all you viewers on your toes.
Bet you didn’t expect Vicki Donovan — played by the gorgeous Kayla Ewell — to bite it, did you? Explains the show’s executive producer, Julie Plec, “We decided almost from the get-go Vicki was going to be the first to die to really take the audience by surprise and show them we could kind of do anything and kill anyone.”
Added fellow executive producer Kevin Williamson, “We are going to go there.”
And where your favorite characters will go is anyone’s guess. The producers, however, without giving too much away, do reveal that fans will be transported out of the fictional town where the show is set — to “finally learn the real reason [why] Stefan[played by Paul Wesley] was in Mystic Falls … it’s a nice call back to the beginning and it’s good stuff,” hints Julie.
That’s all you’re going to give us? We want more! Don’t you?
